Ernest Burgin
Ernest Robert Burgin, 84, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 following a lengthy illness.
He was retired, yet active, from the Sheet Metals Association, Local #5, most recently achieving 65 years of service.
The family would like to thank the entire group at Amedisys Hospice, for all the direction, love and care through our transition period.
Ernest was preceded in death by his infant son, William Clayton Burgin; grandson, Michael Robinson; parents, Nellie Burgin Cooper and William Burgin; and brothers, Carl and Paul Burgin.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Burgin; eight children, Linda (John) Albright, Patricia Higgins, Mike (Debby) Burgin, Rebecca Pollard, Mark (Margie) Burgin, Todd (Tina) Burgin, Steve Paulette) Burgin, all of Chattanooga; Roger Lynn (Shanelle Adona) Burgin of Henderson, Ne.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 21, from 5 -8 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel and on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10-11:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joel Wood officiating, with interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 7161 Lee Highway, Suite 400, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
