Sheriff's Office Says 3-Year-Old Gavin Pittman of Apison Shot Himself In The Head While Playing With A Gun

The Sheriff's Office said three-year-old Gavin Pittman of Apison died after he was playing with a gun and shot himself in the head.

Authorities said, "The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the death of Gavin Pittman was caused by a 'gunshot wound of the head', and the manner of death to be 'accidental'  Furthermore, the Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Gavin 'shot himself while playing with a gun.' "

He was in a vehicle at the time.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation is ongoing and once the investigation is complete, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division will deliver their findings to the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office for review, it was stated.

The tragic incident happened Monday morning at 4724 Gates Lane.

A dark blue SUV was afterward removed from the family property on a wrecker.
