An internal audit revealed the apparent wrongdoing in January 2015. The department addressed the isolated incident and terminated Lora Bradshaw Heath.

Local authorities in Chattanooga were notified of the alleged identity theft and following a criminal investigation, Ms. Heath was arrested and charged with theft of identity, theft of property and official misconduct.
