Captain James Harrison Rector, 74, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Jimmy received his Master Captain’s license in Florida where he loved to be. During his life he was a brick mason, owned and sold motorcycles, before becoming a commercial fisherman.  Most of his life was dedicated to caring for and spending his time with the ones he loved.  He loved his country, his guns, and his Harleys. 

Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather.  Nothing was more important than his family.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Minnie Swinford, Carl and Bessie Rector; parents, Max S. and Ted L. Rector; sister, Patty R. Rector and an uncle, Jack B. Rector.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ronda G. Rector; son, Steven (Trenda) Rector; daughter, Captain Heather rae (Eric Thomas) Rector; grandchildren, Amanda Mariah Thomas, Miquela (Keith) Hales, and Briana (Joel) Brimer; great-grandchildren, Brantley James Thomas, Rebecca Hales, and Jack Hales; sister, Susan B. Rector.   

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Jimmy will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Don Ferguson officiating.  Phillip Osborne, Dewey Campbell, Stanley Smith, Eric Thomas, James Demarco, and Sean Case will serve as pallbearers and his lifelong friend, Steve Parker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The Rector family would like to thank the entire CCU 4th Floor at Memorial Hospital for their tireless heroic and truly amazing care given to Jimmy. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN.
