Harr Named To McCallie Staff

  • Tuesday, July 18, 2017
Chattanooga native Chris Harr is joining the McCallie School staff as an assistant to Student Academic Services and defensive line coach for the football team.

Chris earned his degree in 2012 in Health and Human Performance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and was a two-time All-Southern Conference honoree playing football for the Mocs as an offensive lineman. Upon completing his eligibility, he signed a free agent contract with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs in 2011 and played in the preseason with the squad.

“Chris is a young and enthusiastic coach,” Head Coach Ralph Potter said.
“He has an outstanding background as a player and a coach. We are thrilled that he was available and feel he is an excellent fit for our program.”

Chris entered the coaching profession in 2012, serving as tight ends coach for four seasons at UTC under former head coach Russ Huesman. In 2014, Chris tutored UTC tight end Faysal Shafaat to All-America honors.

“I am excited to join the McCallie family,” Harr said. “The school has a long history of academic excellence and great athletics. I am happy to be a part of the program and continue my career in teaching and coaching while working to develop boys, to equip them to compete, and to prepare them for life. I am looking forward to getting started and working toward what we are trying to build at McCallie School.”

Chris was an All-State football player at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga. He is married to former UTC softball player Brittany Eason.

“We are pleased to add someone the caliber of Chris Harr to our faculty and our coaching staff,” said Assistant Headmaster Kenny Sholl. “We are excited about the positive impact he will have on the boys of McCallie School.”
