Local fan favorite racer Kasey Hall of Geraldine, Ala., grabbed another United Crate Racing Alliance (UCRA) victory at his home track Fort Payne Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Hall, driving his black unmarked # 38 "Bilstein Shocks, Oliver Race Engines" backed T-N-T race car, collected $2,500 for his second UCRA victory of the season at Fort Payne, previously winning a Friday night "Mayhem" event back earlier this Spring.

Leading all 40 laps of the "Fort Payne 40" from the pole position, "The Hurricane" kept control over his weekly rival Sam Seawright for most of the feature event. The race, plagued with cautions, saw Jesse Lowe inch forward lap after lap, eventually getting past Seawright on a mid-race restart. Lowe has now scored four consecutive UCRA "runner-up" finishes, beginning back in June at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville.

Hall took the checkers 1.760 seconds ahead of Jesse Lowe and Seawright. Seven of 18 starters completed all 40 laps. Fast qualifier Lil' John Ownbey (14:199 seconds) retired after five laps due to power-plant issues on his "white" MasterSbilt race car.

UCRA competitors made the second of three scheduled stops at Fort Payne on the 2017 season, the third which is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19. The next series race is slated for Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Tazewell (TN) Speedway.

Kip Fossett of Guntersville, AL picked up the Super Late Model victory Saturday at FPMS. Next weekend "Summertime Explosion" wraps up with the 10th annual "FireCracker 50" Super Late Model $3,000 to win race at Fort Payne Motor Speedway. The race has been scheduled and rescheduled a total of three times due to weather since early July.
