Unlike Saturday's lengthy high-scoring game, Sunday's game moved right along. Unfortunately for the Lookouts, the game went in the wrong direction as the Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts, 7-1, to capture the series 3-games-to-2.
Chattanooga almost matched Montgomery in hits (7 to 10) but the Biscuits managed to compile three extra-base hits including two home runs to get out with a comfortable win.
Despite the loss the team is still up 1.5 games over the Jackson Generals who lost to the Birmingham Barons, 7-5.
In the second inning the home squad scored their first and only run of the day on a Brent Rooker RBI single.
Rooker now as a team-high 21 RBIs in the month of May and is hitting .256 this season.
Through the first three innings Cody Stashack held the Biscuits to only one hit while striking out three batters.
In the fourth Montgomery struck with a two run homer by Brandon Lowe off of Ryan Eades.
Tyler Jay surrendered one run on two hits out of the bullpen. He last 1 2/3 innings and struck out one. Zack Jones tried to stop the bleeding but he allowed three runs, all unearned, on two hits with four strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. After the error, he allowed a home run to bring the score to 7-1.
Offensively, there wasn’t much to write home about either. Ryan Walker went 2-for-3 and was the only batter to have multiple hits. Tanner English collected the team’s only extra-base hit, a double. Brian Olson reached base twice and scored a run.
