Lee University’s Dr. Lorinda Roberts, along with Lee alumna Danielle Ervin, spoke at the KidMin Nation Mega-Con 2019 children’s ministry conference held at Cornerstone Church in Nashville.

“It was an honor to hang out with so many great children’s leaders from all over the country,” said Dr. Roberts. “Children’s ministry is one of the most exciting and meaningful ministries in the entire church as it reaches both the child and the family.”

Dr. Robert’s session, “The One-Two Punch: Equipping Parents and Intergenerational Ministry,” focused on two strategies that encourage children to become lifelong followers of Christ. The first strategy showed ministers ways to equip, resource, and assist parents to lead their children spiritually in the home. According to Dr. Roberts, this model for children’s ministry promotes a partnership between parents and the Church.

The second strategy focused on intentional intergenerational interactions.

“In order for children to deepen their faith, they need positive relationships with those in the faith community,” said Dr. Roberts. “Developing intergenerational discipleship opportunities assists in this process.”

Ms. Ervin spoke on “The Depressed Adolescent: How Today’s Society Plays into the Anxiety and Depression of our Children” which focused on how today’s modern culture often negatively impacts children. Her session touched on the reasons why anxiety and depression are becoming increasingly common among adolescents and the various techniques children’s ministers can utilize to assist both children and families through this challenging process.

“It was an honor to represent Lee at the conference,” said Dr. Roberts.
