Clayton Brown
Rev. Clayton Brown, age 89, of Dalton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 5, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Rhoda and Kendall Johnston; and sons-in-law, Searcy Wildes and Brad Moss.
He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War Conflict. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pastor. During his 50 years of service at Cedar Valley, Rev. Brown touched many lives not only in the church, but also in the community and visiting the sick in the hospital daily.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nellie Brown of Dalton; three daughters and son-in-law, Althia Moss of Dalton, Christy and LeeRoy Atkinson of Dalton, and Tammy Wildes of Brentwood, Tn.; one sister, Joan Brown of Atlanta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m. at Cedar Valley Cathedral of Praise with Pastor Mitch Maloney, assistant pastor Jamie Harper and LeeRoy Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in the United Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion, post 112. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends at Cedar Valley Cathedral of Praise on Monday, Oct. 7, from 4-8 p.m.
