Former Teacher At Ridgeland High School Had A Love For Aviation

George Miller, 77, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019.

George was born in Warren, Oh., in 1942 and moved to Tennessee in 1960 to attend college at Southern Adventist University, where he received his bachelor's degree. He began his teaching career in 1965. In the mid 80s he attended MTSU where he earned his master's degree and eventually a Ph.D in History.

He retired in 1996 from Ridgeland High School. After his retirement, he enjoyed his love of aviation by building, restoring and flying light aircraft, as well as working part-time at the Collegedale Airport.

George was a member of the Collegedale Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marianne and his parents, Mary and Frank Miller.

Living family members include his wife Susan; son, Brett (Staci); brother, Hal, and stepmother, Bette Miller.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home chapel.
