Retired From Chattanooga Police Department After 27 Years

James “Spookie” Jackson, Sr., 69, passed away on July 26, 2019.

He was a 1968 graduate of Riverside High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He retired from the Chattanooga Police Department after 27 years of service. He was also the owner of Jackson’s Lawn Service.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Jackson; son, James (Katrina) Jackson, Jr. of Nashville, TN; daughters, Shinee Jackson and Shenece (David) Craddock; stepsons, Charles Buckner and William (Shannon) Howard; stepdaughter, Kimberly (Corey) Ray; brothers, Charles (Joyce) Jackson and Maurice (Christie) Jackson; sister, Linda (Art) Barnes of Clemons, NC; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

The body will lie in state on Tuesday, July 30, after noon and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 31, at Second Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Paul A. McDaniel officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
