U.S. Army Veteran Held Long Career With Ben Miller Beauty Supply For Over 30 Years

Horace Lee Howard, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019.  

Horace was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Chattanooga, to the late Robert and Alice Howard.  He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and attended Jones Memorial Baptist Church in Rossville, Ga.  Horace was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  During his career he worked for Ben Miller Beauty Supply for over 30 years, the Walker County School system for 8 years, and Walmart for 11 years.  He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carolyn Sue Howard, brother, Hubert “Corky” Howard, and sister, Helen Henson.

Horace is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Myra Rush Howard; daughters, Lori (Don) Fields, Calhoun, Linda (Franklin) West, Ringgold, Lisa (Mark) Humphrey, Rossville, Tonya (Tracy) Hanks East Ridge; son, Bradley Lee, Rossville; grandchildren, Leon Long, Candas Yocum, Joshua Lee, Tara Lee, Travis Hanks, Hannah Sprayberry, Ryan West, Crystal West, and Ty Hanks; 9 great-grandchildren; a niece and several nephews.

A graveside service honoring the life of Horace Howard will take place Tuesday, September 17, 2019, 1:30 PM, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. David Massey officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
