Virginia Lee Gaston Dunn, 82, and longtime resident of Old Fort, passed away peacefully at her home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She and her husband, Eddie, were longtime owners of M&V Carpet. She was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader. She was known by many names, including, Pudge, Ginia and GinGin, and was a second mother and grandmother to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don L. Gaston and Tilda Shelton; husband, Edwin Hill Dunn; son, Michael Edwin Dunn; and siblings, Clarence Gaston, Marie Carroll, Curtis “Chuck” Gaston, Don “Fred” Gaston, Robert “Pete” Gaston, Edna Wilson and Maxine Gaston.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Michelle (Allen) Fugate; along with nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25 in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located, 2415 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 p.m., with the Pastor Larry Humbard officiating. The family requests masks be worn as well as social distancing be practiced at the services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Virginia’s honor.
