James E. Reed, Sr., 82, of South Pittsburg, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Reed; stepdaughter, Nancy Bryant; siblings, Mary Lee Wileman, William Reed, Austin Reed, John Reed and Paul Reed, Jr.; grandchildren, Isaac Hamilton and Jason Plummer. James worked for M & M Transfer for several years and served as mayor, alderman and fire chief of New Hope.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Patricia (Jonathan) Caldwell of New Hope and Evelyn Reed of South Pittsburg; stepchildren, Danny (Sandy) Reed of Whitwell, Marie Henderson of Chattanooga and Gary Wingfield of Chickamauga; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Arland Weldon officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
