Nancy Payne
Nancy Arlene Payne, 95, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2020, surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gazzie Crane, sister, Flora Smith, brother, Arley Crane, her loving husband of 49 years, Roy Payne, and beloved son, Jim Payne.
A devout Christian, she was cherished by her family and friends who sought her wise counsel and faithful prayers. She was born and grew up in DeKalb County, Al., and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee after her husband Roy returned from service in World War II. Nancy was a homemaker and took pride in raising her family. She had many interests throughout her life including sewing, quilting, cooking, genealogy, American history, and real estate. She also enjoyed being a beauty consultant for Noevir USA Cosmetics, where she won numerous sales awards. Later in life she moved to Summit View Assisted Living, where she enjoyed the activities and made many friends.
She is survived by her daughter Gina (Tom) Cook; grandchildren, Katy (Reid) Whittle, Laura (Jake) Lewis, all of Signal Mountain; Todd Anderson of St. Augustine, Fl., Jason Marino of Knoxville, and Michael (Nicole) Marino of Denver; eight great-grandchildren and lots of adoring nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Corner Stone Funeral Chapel, Ider, Al., on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. (EST) with visitation from 12-2 p.m. (EST). Interment will be at the Mountain Home Cemetery, Henagar, Al.
