Richard “Larry” Rhymer Jr., 74, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, February 20, 2020, at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 21, 1945 in Dalton, a son of the late Richard Larry Rhymer Sr. and Rachel Huggins Rhymer. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Mae Patton Rhymer.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a deacon at Whitfield Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Mel Pierce of Chatsworth, Ga.; grandchildren, McKenna Parks and Rucker Pierce; brother, Gary Rhymer; and sister, Louitta Rhymer.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard “Larry” Rhymer Jr. will be held Monday Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Cofield officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23.
