Mary Ruth Green of Chattanooga, passed away on February 26, 2020, at 2:12 a.m. at her home.

She was formerly employed by Erlanger Hospital as a nursing assistant for 25 years. She was a member of the Westside Missionary Baptist Church for 66 years where she enjoyed managing the kitchen for a number of decades.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scofield Green; her parents, Dave and Sallie Shropshire; five brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Sherard of Ava, Missouri, Angela Anderson (Leroy) and Sandra Green both of Atlanta; two grandchildren Amber Anderson (Sterling Reid) and Xavier Anderson also of Atlanta; one great-grandchild, Jordan Reid; sister Ernestine Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother-in-law, Herbert Green of Chattanooga; a whole host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins; special lifelong friends, Bettye Stinson and Edith Hall of Chattanooga.

Funeral services are planned for Monday, March 2. Public viewing will begin at 10 a.m. and the funeral will follow 11:30 a.m. at Westside Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Careathers officiating.

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
