Drusilla Ann Tipton Crider James, age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, and most recently a resident of Regency Park in Dalton, Georgia, ended her life’s journey on this side of eternity, Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Mrs. Drusilla James was born in Chattanooga, Tn., Nov. 7, 1936 and soon after moved, with her parents, the late Paul Avril Tipton, Sr. and Bonnie Isabell Goforth Tipton to Dalton, making it her hometown. She was a proud alumna of Dalton High School of 1955. Drusilla was retired from Hamilton Medical Center and was proud of her job in SPD where she worked in Central Sterile Supply.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Crate and Mary (Hughes) Goforth and Charles and Margaret (Kinnamon) Tipton; her parents, Paul A. Tipton, Sr., and Bonnie (Goforth) Tipton and her brothers, Charles Arvil Tipton and Frank Harrison Tipton, Sr.  Mrs. James was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Carl” James; her precious daughter, Paula Elisa Crider; nephews, Frankie Tipton, Jr., Paul Stephen Tipton, Keith Long and Kelvin White; and also, by her life-long friend, Shelva Jean Whitfield Johnson.

Mrs. Drusilla James is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Avril and Manat Tipton, Jr., John Edward Tipton, and Lloyd Eugene and Ehua Tipton; sisters and brother-in-law, Oneita Tipton and Doyal Long of Morganton, Ga., Lillie Tipton Newman and Sandra Tipton Bridges, both of Dalton, Ga.; her first husband and father of her two daughters, and his wife, Harold and Juanita Crider; sisters-in-love, Vicki Pelfry Crider, Jean Crider Edwards and Barbara Teresin Tipton Bartlett; her life-long friend, Ruth Long Worley; and by her adoring nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge all of the nurses, doctors, aides, and the administrative staff at Regency Park and wish to them many thanks for the attention to care which they bestowed upon our dear sister, aunt and friend.

Due to the situation with Coronavirus COVID-19 at this time, the family will have a special memorial gathering for Mrs. James at some future date.

Drusilla will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and daughter in the Sermon on the Mount section of  Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens, in Dalton, Ga.
