The Lord called Joyce Vernell McGehee Estes to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the age of 75.

Joyce had lived in Jasper, Tn., for the last 20 years. She was born on April 6, 1945, in Ft. Myers, Fl., to the late Byron Haskel McGehee and Zella Mae McGehee. 

Joyce had been a private caregiver for numerous years in her hometown of Jasper. She had been a cook of the Whitwell Headstart Program in Whitwell, Tn. While living in Ft. Myers, she had been employed with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department as the Food Director.  She had also been employed as the Food Manager at the Lee County School Board.

She was known for the love of her family and her Lord and Savior.  Joyce was of the Baptist faith and a member of Long Island Baptist Church in Long Island, AL.  She was a volunteer worker along with loving to help anyone in times of need.  Joyce enjoyed going to yard sales, shopping, and enjoying life to the fullest.  Her heart and soul will greatly be missed by all that knew her. 

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Byron and Zella Mae McGehee.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Melissa (Joey) Ray and Jennifer Estes; son, Timothy (Teresa) Byron Johnson; sisters, Sylvia (Ronnie) Martin and Carol Barefoot; grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Christopher (Danielle) Ray, Jessica (Justin) Ray, Kyle Ballard and Brianna (Johnthan Green) Reed; five great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews and host of loving friends.                                                                                                           

Ar Joyce’s request, there will not be a visitation or graveside service.  Her ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony at a late date by her family.
