Sylvia Leslie, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 in a local hospital.

Sylvia was a graduate of Howard High School class of 1969.  She professed her commitment to Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Church of the Firstborn where she faithfully served as a Mother of the church, church administrator and volunteered to serve whenever needed.  She retired from Quest Diagnostic after completing a long and successful career. Sylvia’s life represented her love of God, family and church.  All who came into her presence were blessed with her kind, loving and gentle spirit.  Her intelligence, keen awareness, empathetic heart and subtle wit were strengths she used quite effectively to make everyone around her feel comfortable and at ease.   It was her sincere desire for all to have a personal relationship with Jesus by receiving Him as their Lord and their Savior.  Sylvia was happiest when surrounded by family.  While God was the anchor of her soul, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought supreme joy to her life and a twinkle in her eye.  Unconditional love and support were generously and consistently poured into each one throughout their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ida Mae Thompson, Mary Ruth Anderson and Minnie Lee Wilkerson, and granddaughter, Syrena Leslie.

Sylvia leaves her deepest love and blessings to her three children, Sean (Theresa) Jones, Stacie (Leonard Jr.) Jackson and Shayla Leslie; eight grandchildren, Gessyca, Kelsie, Jesse and Kaiden Jones; Nathalie and Kayle Harris; Ryan Montgomery and Seria Spears; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillie Wills and Valerie Anderson; brothers, Alonza Anderson, Calvin (Bertha) McCloud and Chester McCloud; uncles Autry and Eric Jones.

Loving memories will also linger with Nathaniel Leslie, a loving father to her children and lifelong companion, and other family and friends.

Private services will be held for the family with Reverend Alfred Johnson officiating.

Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
