Richard Thomas Jensen, 71,  of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. 

Rick was born on May 12, 1949, in Chattanooga to the late George Richard and Mattie Idella Woody Jensen.  

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Lowe Peoples.

Mr. Jensen spent his life teaching Sunday School classes and playing the trumpet and French horn in church orchestras.  He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and Gideons International. 

He had a long career as vice president of Dooley Chemical Company.  He specialized in playing with soapy water and making chemical products for the textile industry.  After his retirement, he established a consulting company - Upward Chemicals Solutions.  He was a member of American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists. 

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Damarest Chapman Jensen; daughter, Cherith Ann Edwards (Tim Edwards) of Hixson; son, David Richard Jensen (Beth Jensen) of Huntsville; Mother-in-law, Maris Chapman; Grandchildren: Pierson Hibbs, Alyssa Joy Hibbs, Ethan Hibbs, Pierce Edwards, Rebecca Jensen, Sam Thomas Jensen, and Luke Jensen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He built a house and home for his four-generation family where hundreds of people were welcomed and loved throughout the last 37 years. He was an avid golfer, who taught his son and grandsons to play the game.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at the pavilion of Greenwood Cemetery, with Reveremd Russ Fairbanks officiating.  The pavilion is reserved for immediate family only to allow for social distancing.  Family and friends are welcome to gather outside.  We strongly request that anyone who chooses to join will stand separately with their family groups, wear masks in accordance with Hamilton County ordinances, and follow all CDC guidelines. 

The service will live stream at www.facebook.com/chattanooganorthchapel at 10 a.m. 

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not host a formal visitation, but will invite friends and family to visit the North Chapel to pay respects and sign the register book on Friday, Aug., 7, between the hours of 5-9 p.m.  Masks are required. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial funds at Red Bank Baptist Church (4000 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37415) or Mt. Juliet Church of the Nazarene (3290 N Mt. Juliet Rd., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122)

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
