Bobby Stevenson Young, 77, of Ooltewah, died on Thursday, August 6, 2020.

 

Bobby was born on September 25, 1942, in Cleveland, Tn. Bobby grew up in the Watering Trough community in East Chattanooga and he graduated from Tyner High School in 1960. In 1961 he married his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Brooks.

 

Bobby served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1961-1965. Under the G.I. Bill he studied at Northeast Alabama Community College.

 

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and the Honors Golf Club for 22 years. Bobby was an avid golfer and a member of Windstone Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing and was a TSSAA Basketball referee for many years. He loved his family and was a good friend to many. Bobby was always ready to lend a hand or show up for those that needed support. He enjoyed playing pranks, visiting friends, working his garden and teaching his grandson’s life lessons.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Geneiva (Cash) Young.

 

Bobby is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bobbie Young; his daughters, Angie Pickett (Bobby Rhodes), Denise (John) Schenk; his sisters, Gayle Whitley (Rob Bonini) and Janie Potter (Steve Cross); his grandsons, Dru and Jack Schenk; his nephews, David Potter, Chad and Greg Akers; and many cousins and friends.

 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga with the U.S. Marine Corps performing military honors.
