Ham, Leon M. III (Rocky Face)

Leon M. Ham III, 91, of Rocky Face, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Leon M. Ham Jr. and Sara Cutler Ham and was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon M. and Kate Wakefield Ham, and Sam and Sadie Cutler; sister, Sara; and brother, L. Cutler Ham.

Leon attended Greensboro High School and N.C. State University where he played on the golf teams. After school he moved to Dalton in 1961 and worked various jobs including at Jolly Textile where he retired in 1986. After retirement he started Carteret Corp. (a sales company) around 1988 until they closed in 2003.

He was an avid golfer and saltwater fisherman who loved the seashore. He enjoyed most athletics, particularly ACC basketball, March Madness and SEC Football. He was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian Church.

Leon is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Louise Russell Ham; children, Leon M. Ham IV (Skipper) and John R. Ham; and grandchildren, Charles Russell Ham (Charlie) and John Luke Ham (Luke).  

A private family memorial service will be held.
