Rep. Helton To Chair Public Service And Employee Subcommittee

State Rep. Esther Helton has been appointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton to serve as chairman of the House Public Service and Employee Subcommittee for the 112th Tennessee General Assembly. 
 
The 112th Tennessee General Assembly officially convened Jan. 12 and completed its organizational meeting with the appointment of committees by Speaker Sexton.
 
“Esther Helton continues answering the call to effectively serve her citizens and her community,” said Speaker Sexton. “She is a strong and knowledgeable leader in our General Assembly, and I believe she will be extremely successful serving as our Public Service and Employees Subcommittee chair.”   

The seven-member House Public Service and Employee Subcommittee is an arm of the State Government Committee and oversees legislative matters concerning employees and public service for the state. 

“It is a great honor to be selected to be entrusted with overseeing this important committee,” Rep. Helton said. “Public service is the backbone of local and state government. This committee is where proposed legislation affecting public service our citizens rely on is vetted and shaped and I look forward to working on meaningful legislation that benefits Tennessee taxpayers.” 
 
Rep. Helton will serve as a member of the House State and Local Committees, the House Health Committee and the Cities Subcommittee.
