Gwendolyn Benton
Gwendolyn Joyce Benton, 64, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Benton was a longtime resident of Chattanooga and a member of Mt. Canann Baptist Church. She was presently employed at the Boys and Girls Club of Chattanooga and previously employed at the Orange Grove Center for 12 years.
Gwen was the wife of the late Melvin Benton and was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ernestine Robinson; brother, Aaron Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memories; sons, Randell "Joe" High, Jr., and Marcus (Takeyta) Price; daughter, Sherida P. Smith; sister, Marilyn R. Milsaps; brothers, Raymond (Linda) Bane, Gary Bane, and Myron "Mikey" (Cynthia) Robinson; 4 grandchildren, Asia Jones, Tahlia Smith, Mariyah Price, and Henry Smith Jr.; devoted sister-in-law, Glinda "Candy" Jennings; devoted friends, Mrs. Dora P. Smith, Pam Craven, Cynthia Daniel, and Tyler Sturdivant; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home. A private family funeral service will be held. Pastor Ternae Jordan will be the eulogist. Interment will be Chattanooga National Cemetery.
