Mary Lee Huss Beckett, 73, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away at her home on Jan 3, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, in the loving care of her sister, Connie and brother-in-law, Ray Speck.

Mary was born on July 22, 1947, the daughter of William Huss and Martha Downing. On Sept. 27, 1965, she married Ted Beckett and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary before his death on Oct. 3, 2005. She graduated from Mexico Senior High School in Mexico, Mo. in 1966.

She was employed at Jim Walters Paper Company for 28 years, starting in Atlanta and then moving to Chattanooga where she was a manager. In 1993 she left the paper company and was self-employed as a seamstress and did alterations out of her home until 2017.

Mary had a smile that "lit up the room" and love for her family and friends. Many friends became extended family. Mary and Ted loved to travel, having taken many motorcycle trips with their BMW club members and Ted's parents, and traveled to visit family across the U.S. She was also known as Mary's Taxi.

She is survived by her sister, Connie (Ray) Speck of Hixson; brother, Steve (Dee) Huss of Orlando; sisters-in-law, Donna (Bob) Barnes, Mexico, Mo., and Linda (Mike) Keeling, Stafford, Va.; nephew, Brad (Mary) Barnes of Mexico, Mo.; nieces: Denise Barnes, Osage Beach, Mo., Michele (Gerald) Egan, Stafford, Va.; great nieces and nephews: Sara Barnes, LeAnn (Ryan) Walker and Brian (Angie) Barnes of Mexico, Mo., Kellen, Holt, Grant, Lincoln, Mayes and Jule Egan of Stafford, Va.; great-great nieces and nephew: Melanie, Austin and Annaliese Walker of Mexico, Mo., and her wonderful boyfriend, Val Christopher of Apison; and many more extended relatives and friends who also loved her dearly.

In addition to her husband, Ted, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha, In-laws, Don and Mary Beckett.

Due to Covid-19, there will be no service. There will be a celebration of Mary's life in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Chattanooga (Mountain View Team).

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
