Robert F. “Bobby” Sharp, age 72, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Friday evening, November 26, 2021 at a local hospital.

He was born Oct. 21, 1949, in South Boston, Va. Bobby was a 1969 graduate of Westside High School. 

Bobby was a man of many talents, including floral design. He taught himself to play the piano at an early age. He served as the pianist at several local churches, played for several local southern gospel groups and at Ponders Funeral Home for the past 30 years.  Bobby worked many years in food service, over 40 years doing private catering and he was the former cafeteria manager at Southeast High School. He was a state officer in the Georgia School Nutrition Association for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Robert and Ruby Sharp; mother and stepfather, Frances Allen and Winford Dixon; companion, Janice Marie Hice; and brothers, Donnie Sharp and Jimmy Sharp.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathi Sharp; grandchildren, Lexi Rogers, Kaylee Sharp, Zoey Parker, Jasmine Parker all of Tunnel Hill, GA; stepsister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Lamar Cantrell of Dalton, GA; sisters-in-law, Nancy Sharp of Calhoun, GA, and Brenda Sharp of Dalton, GA; nieces, Crystal Hammontree, and Sabrina Sharp; great-niece, Alexis Sharp; and several other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bobby Sharp will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, at noon from the North Whitfield Baptist Church with Reverend Chester Edwards, Reverend J.T. Sanders, Reverend Ronald Guffey and Brother Marty Bell officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Blake Painter, Dakota Dills, Tyler Dills, Chris Stanley, Bill Thornton, Bobby Arnold, Ryan Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be, Billy Koger, Justin Middlebrook, Junior Baughman, Lavon King, Tim Roberson, Grady Ray and Doug Green 

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel 5-9 p.m. Friday.
