Betty Louise McAskill Cook, born January 3, 1926, went to be with her Lord on Jan 28, 2021. 

 

Mrs. Cook lived a long and full life, growing up and living in Memphis, Tn., Padukah, Ky., and Mississippi, ending up in high school in Louisville, Ky., where she attended the University of Louisville earning a BA degree and certification as a medical technologist.  She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi business fraternity. She married McClellan Cook (Mack) in 1948 and moved to Chattanooga, where she lived and raised her four daughters. She worked for Dr. Livingston in his lab, raised her daughters, then went to work for Erlanger Hospital. Mrs. Cook’s warm, loving smile and hospitality ensured kids were at their house all the time. Mrs. Cook attended First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga and was active supporting the Cumberland Youth Foundation, Reach to Recovery and Cancer and Alzheimers Research. She moved to Bradenton, Fl., in 2013 to be close to daughter Barbara and lived at Freedom Village in their Independent Living and Assisted Living Facilities.  She attended Christ Church of Longboat Key in Longboat Key, Fl.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband Mack Cook, brother, Jack McAskill, Daughters Carolyn Cook Bryant (David) and Judy Cook Ross (Ricky), and son-in-law Garry Stephens.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother to six and great-grandmother of 10.  She is survived by daughter Barbara Cook Grimes (Jon) of Longboat Key, Fl, Linda Cook Stephens of Leavenworth, Ks; grandsons James Grimes (Amy), Jeff Grimes (Christina), Justin Grimes (Amelia), Josh Stephens (Alex), Zach Stephens (fiancé Samantha), and Michael Ross (Anna Katherine) and Great-grandchildren Annie, Jimmy, Bobby and Jack Grimes, Isabella, Benjamin, Nicholas, Julianna, and Timmothy Stephens, and Colton Jonathan Grimes. She will be greatly missed. 

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, at Chattanooga National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.  The Reverend Bruce Clark will officiate.  Due to the national health crisis, there will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tennessee.
