  • Saturday, October 8, 2022

Chattanooga Division of Transportation welcomes the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival the week of Oct. 9-17. Officials recommend that spectators and visitors park in the lots and garages surrounding downtown and utilize the Free Electric Shuttle and Bike Chattanooga bike share system.

Details regarding festival operated shuttles, a full schedule of events, activities, tickets, attendee shuttles, and other useful information can be found on the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival website.

Public activities start Friday morning and end Sunday night.  A general schedule of events can be found here.

There are four locations within downtown Chattanooga that will see street closures and restrictions in the following week: The West Village, Riverfront Parkway at The Bend development (former Alstom site), Carter Street/Fort Street adjacent to the Chattanooga Convention Center, and the Tennessee Riverwalk.

Riverfront Parkway / W 19th Street

Riverfront Parkway between West Martin Luther King Boulevard and West 19th Street will have the following traffic restrictions beginning Sunday, at noon until Tuesday, Oct.

18, at 11:30 p.m.:

  • Riverfront Parkway will be reduced to one lane, one-way traffic northbound only. All vehicles entering or exiting businesses between W MLK Blvd and W Main Street must turn northbound. Access to businesses will be maintained with detours via Boynton Drive and W Main Street. All southbound through traffic on Riverfront Parkway will be detoured via W MLK Blvd, Broad Street, and W 20th Street.
  • Chattanooga Police Department will have uniformed officers directing traffic at Riverfront Parkway and W MLK Blvd, W Main Street, and W 19th Street during this time. Please follow any instructions officers may give.
  • Use caution as a high number of pedestrians is expected in this area.

The Chattanooga Motorcar Festival has contacted all businesses affected by altered traffic patterns on Riverfront Parkway/W 19th Street with special accommodations being made for those on the west side within the racecourse.

Tennessee Riverwalk

Beginning Sunday, at noon until Tuesday, Oct. 18:

  • The Tennessee Riverwalk will be closed between Blue Goose Hollow Trailhead and the Chestnut Street Trailhead.  Riverwalk patrons will be detoured from Blue Goose Hallow, across Riverfront Parkway at W MLK Blvd to the east sidewalk.  The detour will continue southbound until crossing back over Riverfront Parkway at W 19th Street. The detour will continue to follow the previous route once utilized by the now-completed TDOT's I-24 / Broad Street bridge reconstruction project to the Chestnut Street Trailhead.
