Boyd Buchanan raced past Chattanooga Prep, 49-8, on Friday night at David L. Moore Field.
Chris Green, a senior who is new to the Bucs this year, carried the opening kickoff just past mid-field. Maxwell Bates connected with a 48-yard strike to David Yancey on the first play from scrimmage for a 7-0 Boyd Buchanan lead.
The Bucs scored again on a four-yard run by freshman TJ McReynolds after Keion Brooks' 29-yard scamper straight up the middle. It was 14-0 Boyd.
Boyd Buchanan scored again early in the second quarter with junior quarterback Mario Willis running for 12 yards. Fisher Kyriakidis got the final score of the first half as the Bucs led 28-0 at the half.
The Sentinels were pinned deep after a bobble on the second half kickoff. Mason Bates, who last season had 55 tackles for Boyd, then picked up a fumble just before David Green ran it in.
It was David Green again with a 26-yard pass interception to push the home Bucs to a 42-0 advantage.
The Sentinels finally strung together a long drive led by the running of Taevon Boykins. Boykins hit Marquis Gardner for the score. A two-point conversion made it 42-8.
Ashton Johnson, a freshman, had the final TD for Boyd Buchanan not long before time ran out.
