Johnny Earl Reed, 68, of Rossville, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022, after a long battle with diabetes complications.

He was born on March 16, 1954, to Ernest and Minnie Lee Reed. Johnny graduated from Lakeview High School in 1972 where he played football and was on the wrestling team. He was a TSSAA football official for over 26 years, plus many years as an official for girls’ high school fast pitch softball.

Johnny worked many years in banking and financial services and retired from Unum in 2017, In his retirement years, he enjoyed working with Catoosa County Election Commission where he made new friends and saw old ones.

During his lifetime, he was a member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church, Oakwood Baptist Church (Chickamauga) and Anchor of Hope Baptist Church.

Johnny loved the SEC and making memories with family and friends. He loved his family and friends deeply and will be remembered for his caring heart and quick wit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Reed and other family members.

Survived by the love of his life, Darlene Reed; son, Andrew (Christine) Reed, of Ringgold; daughter, Sarah (Michael) Edwards, of Kennesaw, GA; grandsons, Elijah and Braxton Reed; brother, Jerry (Linda) Reed, of Rossville; brothers-in-law, Randy (Sandy) Kerfoot, of Ooltewah and Larry Lindsay, of Ringgold; sister-in-law, Becky Reed, of Rossville, along with other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at Anchor of Hope Baptist Church, Lakeview Drive, Rossville, with Pastor Dan Mouw officiating.

Arrangements are by Companion Funeral Home.
