The Cleveland State men’s basketball lost to Jackson State 76-68 on February 25 bringing
to an end the 2021-2022 season. Down 15 at the half, the Cougars used a frenzied
rally in the second half only to come up short in the play-in game for the TCCAA/NJCAA
Region VII Tournament.
Playing on the court at tournament host Dyersburg State the Cougars, needing to win to enter tournament play, rallied to within four points with a minute remaining only to have Jackson use timely free throw shooting to end the contest. In the game Jackson was 18-23 from the charity stripe while Cleveland State was 5-11.
Point guard Khris Green led the Cougars scoring with 20 points, shooting 8-12 from the field while Kobe Pride pulled down 10 rebounds and poured in 16 points. Miguel Shaw joined the double digit scoring with 14 points and nine rebounds. Also adding to the scoring Marcus Averhart and K’Juan Banks scored eight and six points respectively.
The Cougars finished with a 10-13 overall record while going 7-9 in conference play
