The John Sevier Chapter of the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution conducted a ceremony on Monday, to honor the Revolutionary War service of Patriot Charles Thurman at his grave site in rural Bledsoe County.
The ceremony featured retiring the “Betsy Ross” Flag and posting of a new flag in addition to a reading of the Patriot’s Service on the 241st anniversary of his service in the Battle of Guildford Courthouse.
Patriot Charles Thurman was not only veteran of the Revolutionary War but recognized as one of the early settlers of Bledsoe County, Tennessee. Descendants of the Patriot still reside in Bledsoe County.
