The Tazewell Speedway, east of Knoxville, will again open up their racing season with the United Championship Racing Alliance on Saturday with the Gary Hall owner/promoter ultra-high banked dirt track.
The 604/Crate Late Model series, presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil, will chase the first Jim Arnwine Memorial checkers boasting a $3,011 winning payday.
This event will be the first of four in 2022 at "The Taz" for the 604 GM Performance Late Models that will contest regularly at the track.
Already in 2022, defending series champion Kenny Kizzar (#157) of Sale Creek, has thrown his proverbial helmet back into the championship ring running second in the series opener, the Bama Brawl at Fort Payne (AL) Motor Speedway. Kizzar pocketed $5,000 for his 2021 efforts and adds his name to the championship likes of Jake Teague of Petross, Tn., Rusty Ballenger of Seymour, Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland and Jesse Lowe of Crossville.
Brent Rhodes (#13) of Crossville, Al. leads the new 2022 season points standings and looks also to be in attendance, as does a plethora of other top 604/Crate aces.
Locals such as Jason Trammell, Brian Smith and Aaron Guinn should also be tough competition Saturday.
