Marvin Arthur Smith, 78, died on Monday, April 25, 2022, at his home in Soddy Daisy, surrounded by his family.

 

Marvin was born on Dec. 23, 1943, to Blaine and Kate Smith in Bledsoe County. He married Sybil Jeanne Brown on Dec. 17, 1964. The two spent 49 happy years together until the passing of his beloved wife in 2014. Marvin worked at S.C.T. Yarns and Mueller Company until he retired in 2008. He was also well known in the community for his tree work as well.

 

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeanne Smith; his daughter, Stacy Smith; his son, Marvin Smith Jr.; and five siblings.

 

Marvin is survived by his children, Tracy (Jaye) Smith, Joseph (Jill) Smith, Tina (Mitchell) Gaither and Kerrie (Christine) Smith-Millsaps; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five siblings.

 

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, April 29, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Don Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at funeral home.
