Covenant's Harvey Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

  • Friday, May 13, 2022
Covenant baseball senior Josh Harvey was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® team, announced the organization on Thursday.

Harvey becomes the second player in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District®, joining his brother, Luke Harvey, who garnered honors in 2016. He is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® recognition.

The Academic All-District teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
In order to be nominated for this award, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher and be a significant contributor to their team. The ballot is then voted on by various Sports Information personnel within the district.

A senior from Apex, N.C., Harvey was named to the All-USA South West Division second team after leading the Scots with a .412 average on the year. Harvey hit two home runs with 34 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and a team-high 56 hits in 38 games. He had a .529 slugging percentage and led the team with a .503 on-base percentage.

Harvey also tied for the team lead with 17 multi-hit games, including two four-hit efforts, and tallied 10 multi-RBI games. He ended the year with a 25-game on-base streak, the second-longest streak on the team this season.

In the classroom, Harvey graduated this month with a degree in community development and a GPA of 3.84 at Covenant. Harvey is a three-time USA South All-Academic team selection, garnering the award with distinction this year. He also earned Covenant Dean's List honors and Athletic Honor Roll (3.5 semester GPA) accolades in all six semesters.

Covenant ended the year with a 22-19 overall record and advanced to the USA South Tournament.
