Local racer Drew Kennedy kept the United Championship Racing Alliance (UCRA) top $2,500 prize at home in Morgan County near the Tennessee/Kentucky border Saturday night winning the annual Tennessee Tussle event for the 604/Crate Late Model series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil.
Kennedy had a 13:045 lap time in qualifying on Father's Day Eve, besting 10 others for the night's 30-lap A-Main, that was shortened by 10 laps due to scheduled county wide power outages for maintenance purposes.
The "Schubert Monument Sales" sponsored racer kept two-time UCRA Champion Rusty Ballenger of Seymour behind him with DJ Shannon rounding out the podium finishers. Zach Shannon and Jeremy Shannon completed the top five.
Current UCRA points leader and reigning defending series champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek was seventh overall.
The series takes a much-needed summer break for a few weeks until the Red Line Oil Bama Duals hits the weekend after Independence Day, when Penton Motor Speedway and East Alabama Motor Speedway host back to back $3,000 to win 50 lappers.
