The Red Wolves host Charlotte Independence Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. looking to gain momentum ahead of the midway point of the 2022 USL League One campaign.
The last time out for Obleda’s side saw a return to winning ways on the road in Fresno, CA against Central Valley Fuego FC, where Moe Espinoza and Juan Galindrez scored late to secure the victory.
Espinoza continues his red-hot form since joining the squad for the 2022 season, with his free kick goal in the 81st minute marking his sixth goal contribution in only 11 league games.
Obleda’s squad got back to winning ways using a fast-paced, counter-attacking style of football combined with an inspired backline performance that saw new loan signing Timmy Mehl inserted into the starting 11 with immediate impact.
It marked the Red Wolves’ second clean sheet of the season, and will be hoping for a similar performance when Charlotte comes to town.
A clean sheet could make the difference Wednesday night at CHI Memorial Stadium as the Independence have let in a league high 19 goals so far in the season, and the Red Wolves will be hoping to continue to find their clinical finishing that has made them the second highest scoring side in USL League One in 2022.
