Robert Forester
Robert Benson Forester, age 89, passed away on July1st, 2022.
Mr. Forester was born in Hammond, Indiana, but lived most of his life in his beloved hometown of LaFayette, Georgia.
Mr. Forester served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and graduated from Auburn University upon his return. He was associated with the Bank of LaFayette for 50 years, first as the Cashier and Operations Officer, and later as a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Forester was also a member of the LaFayette First United Methodist Church where he served for many years as an adult Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Essie Forester. Mr. Forester is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Connie Bomar Forester; his three children, Kathryn Forester Silvestri (George), Robert Samuel Forester (Tambi), and James Edwin Forester (Kylee); one sister, Mrs. Leah Diffley; and eight grandchildren; Erin Silvestri Foote (Glenn), Shannon Silvestri Marshall (Brandon), Ryan Silvestri (Abigail), Alan Silvestri, Sidney Forester (Katie), Morgan Daniel Forester (Tayla), Madison Forester, and McKenna Forester; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, July 6th at the First United Methodist Church in LaFayette, GA with the Reverend David Autry officiating. Interment will follow in the LaFayette cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the church. Grandchildren Erin Silvestri Foote, Sidney Forester, Morgan Daniel Forester, Shannon Silvestri Marshall, Ryan Silvestri, and Alan Silvestri will serve as pallbearers. Employees of the Bank of LaFayette are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home in LaFayette. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to the United Methodist Youth Fund at the LaFayette First United Methodist Church.
