Humanitarian Aide For The Ukrainian People Is September Outreach Program For Greater Chattanooga Navy League

  • Wednesday, September 21, 2022

The Greater Chattanooga Navy League is sponsoring a speaker for our Community Outreach Program on Sept. 29 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Mission BBQ on Gunbarrel Road.

In July, the Greater Chattanooga Navy League held their first Community Outreach Program with the Chattanooga Police Department’s new Co-Crisis Response Unit with Officer Watson and Jeanna Parker.

Officials said, "For September’s Outreach Program, we are hosting the speaker for Rescue 82, Inc.  Rescue 82 Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by Chattanooga Police Officer Jeremiah Cook. Rescue 82's roots stem from past trips to Brazil to distribute emergency medical supplies and train law enforcement officers, but the organization was forged out of the 2022 humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The team consists of other Chattanooga Police Officers/ S.W.A.T Team members and local businessman Brad Cobb, who are all volunteering their time to serve in Ukraine.

"This past March and April, Rescue 82 spent time in Ukraine, Romania and Moldova distributing food and emergency medical supplies and evacuating refugees. Through local donations and support, the team was able to provide weeks’ worth of food for evacuee centers, churches and villages as well as desperately needed medical supplies for medical professionals.

"Rescue 82 consists of Police Officers with over 30 years of combined military and S.W.A.T experience. This fall, the team is returning to Ukraine to distribute more food and medical supplies and utilize their experience as first responders to equip others to survive this ongoing conflict.
On September 29th, from 6:30 to 8pm, at Mission BBQ on Gunbarrel, members of Rescue 82 will present their former mission in Ukraine to their next event going to Ukraine to further assist the Ukrainian people.  They will take more medical and other supplies with them or directly ship to their contact the needed items.  Contact your fellow co-workers, friends and family members and come together.  You will not want to miss this highly anticipated event.  Come early to grab a seat and some fresh BBQ. No reservations are required."
