Alicia Daniels, MD, FAAP, pediatrician with CHI Memorial Pediatric Diagnostic Associates, is one of the first six pediatricians in Georgia to be certified by the Georgia American Academy of Pediatrics and the Georgia Breastfeeding Coalition as a Breastfeeding-Friendly Pediatrician.

The Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Georgia Breastfeeding Coalition want to equip pediatricians to better support their patient families to meet AAP breastfeeding recommendations and more importantly, their own breastfeeding goals, officials said.

The program launched in 2021 with 91 applicants throughout the state of Georgia.

“Pediatricians are truly best suited to guide new mothers through the challenges of breastfeeding,” said Dr.
Daniels. “There are still many misconceptions about breastfeeding, and often families are unsure where to go for assistance.  It brings me such joy to help these parents troubleshoot their issues and achieve their goals, both short and long-term.”

Dr. Daniels welcomes new patients from newborns to young adults up to age 18.  To schedule an appointment, or for more information about CHI Memorial Pediatric Diagnostic Associates, call 423-698-BABY (2229).  For more information, visit CHIMemorialMedicalGroup.org/PDA.
