William "Bill" Raymond Thornbury

William "Bill" Raymond Thornbury, 79, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday January 30, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on Nov. 28, 1943, in Chattanooga, to the late R. C. and Juanita Thornbury. He was of the Baptist faith, and a retired timber company owner and operator.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 62 years, Victoria Bird Thormbury; children, William Eugene Thornbury, Timothy Russell Thornbury, (Teresa), Terry Joseph Thornbury, (Debbie), Christina Diane Stansberry, (Max). Siblings; Nancy Carlene Jones, Carol Mae Hoodenpyle, Nita Joanne Rankin, and Russell Lee Thornbury; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, at 12 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home. Entombment will be private in the mausoleum at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org in Bill’s memory.
