Elsie Lorraine Cole, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Elsie grew up in Charleroi, Pa., the eldest of three daughters of Hollen and Ada Gould. She graduated nursing school and served in many roles including Hamilton County public health, hospitals, long-term care, and the New York public school system.

Married to Edward William Cole in 1956, they put down roots in Liverpool, New York, adopting three children, Jeff, Becky, and Tom. Church on Sundays, baseball games, sled riding, nights at the high school pool, and summers in Canada, are some of the ways she created a childhood of discovery and wonder for her children. She was a lifelong writer and author of several self-published collections of stories and poems.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Edward William Cole, and her youngest son, Thomas Gavin Cole, and grandson, Sean Logan Cole.

She is survived by her sisters, Janet Remish, and Gloria Gerow; son, Jeffrey Logan Cole; daughter, Becky Janine Paris. She left indelible imprints as a sister, wife, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother on the lives of several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as many other friends, children, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on March 30, at 6 p.m., at St. John United Methodist Church, 3921 Murray Hills Dr, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in her name to St. John United Methodist Church - Chattanooga, The Chattanooga Humane Society, or the Chattanooga Nature Center.
