Happy International Day Of Yoga

  • Wednesday, June 21, 2023

The United Nations declared June 21 as the day to recognize the importance of practicing yoga and the benefits of it. We are not recognizing this day by celebrating a person, simply a practice that has been proven to benefit us spiritually, mentally and physically. Yoga is an ancient practice that goes back thousands of years and it was developed in a way to help us interconnect the mind body and soul to step closer into enlightenment. June 21 was chosen due to the summer solstice the day where there is the most sun out of every other day.

There are many high-profile political figures from all around the world that practice yoga and they know the benefits of it and due to that they have declared today as yoga international Day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga is not just about exercise it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself the world and nature."

Based on yoga's popularity, its ancient tradition and its scientifically shown effects on health, the United Nations General Assembly voted to make June 21 international date of yoga and I say thank you.

If you have not tried yoga then I encourage you that today is always a good day to better ourselves.
Young and old we can all learn how to create a better world and that starts within and then it moves outward.

Yoga, prayer, and meditation has changed my life so much just by practicing basic yoga at home to now studying to become a certified yoga instructor.

Prayer we talk, meditation we listen and yoga we learn. The mind mentally, and the body physically.

Yoga has taught me the importance of slowing down, meditation has taught me to listen and be still and take things has they come and let them go as they go, but not to push anything away even if it causes me pain it is a matter of being in the moment and then when it goes let it go and when you put the two together then you can enjoy them one at a time and meditation along with yoga will teach you to be mindful of your physical and mental self.

When we practice yoga, we become more relaxed and our mind and our body will thank us for it.

"Seek your happy place and sit quietly with your soul and listen to it as it will tell you where to go when your body is old and tired - then you will see that you have inspired another soul to be free."
I wrote this quote on February 18, 2021 and I reflect on it often.

Seek my happy place and listen to what my mind and body is trying to tell me.

Happy vibes to all.
