Wanda K. McBroom
Wanda K. McBroom, 92, of Chattanooga, met her Savior face to face on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Wanda was born on April 25, 1931, in Parrottsville, Tn. First and foremost, Wanda was known for her love for the Lord and she served her Savior faithfully and as a prayer warrior, prayed diligently for friends and family her entire life. Wanda was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church where she was Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was known for her powerful Alto voice, singing in numerous church services and events throughout the tristate area. Wanda was a teacher for Hamilton County for 30 years at Westview Elementary School where she mainly taught third grade.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.E. and Geneva Keller; her husband, Charles E. “Big Ed” McBroom; her daughter, Anne McBroom Merritt; and son-in-law, Jim Blackwell.
She is survived by her children, Pam McBroom Blackwell, Eddy (Mary) McBroom, and Monty McBroom; her grandchildren, Brandi Coleman, Rachel (Andy) Clem, Krista McBroom, Eddy (Amy) McBroom, and Katy (Michael) Ferris; her great-grandchildren, Hailey (Frankie) Feagan, Olivia Coleman, Mikayla and Maverick Ferris, and Geneva McBroom; and a host of cousins and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at Chattanooga Funeral Home – East Chapel with Rev. Sterling Jetton officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, and from 10-11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers, Sharon Parks, Jeanette Johnson, and staff of Hickory Valley Retirement Center and Hospice of Chattanooga.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hickory Valley Baptist Church or Shelter Church.
