Rita Robinson
Rita L. Robinson was born on June 12, 1953, in Chattanooga, to Mr. James and Mrs. Thelma L Hammonds. She was called to rest on August 4, 2023.
Rita accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Howard High School, class of 1971.
Rita worked for many years in various hosiery mills in and around the city: Rossville Yarns and Will-Wear Hosiery Mills. She also drove for STS until her health began to fail.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Robinson; brother, Gregory Hammonds; father, James Hammonds; grandmother, Lavonia Suttles; grandfather, Fred Turner; uncle, Fred (Billy) Turner.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Thelma Holloway; brother, Willie F. (Regina) Hammonds; nieces, Ebonee L. (Demingus) Copeland and Taneshia Hammonds; nephews, Marlon (Mekka) Hammonds and Cornelius (Markitta) Kindricks; aunts, Mildred Hicks and Joyce Thomas; uncle, Frizell Turner; a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
While working with the Foster Care System, Rita fostered several children including Iesha Jones, KeAndre and Navaejh Jones, who lovingly referred to her as “Granny”.
Public viewing will be held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, followed by a noon funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
