Janice Elvira Wellington Hammonds, 62, was born on September 26, 1962, to the late Lester Sr. and Inora Wellington in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was called into the resting arms of her Everlasting Father on September 24, 2024.

Janice was a woman of many passions, whose laughter and slow southern twang still rings into the memories of her family and friends. Her big, beautiful smile lightened up the room, and her corny dad jokes made you fall over laughing!

She was dedicated to the needs of family. Her nurturing spirit and infectious love permeated the hearts of all who knew her. She impacted the lives of so many. One of her greatest joys was cooking for family gatherings. She loved bringing family together!

Among those who preceded Janice in death include her parents, Lester Sr. and Inora Wellington; brothers, Gary, David, and Lester Wellington, Jr., nephews, Torrence Sivels and Stephon Ball, Sr.

Cherishing her memory are beloved brothers, Michael (Dr Lillian Norris) Holmes, of Columbia, Md., Steve and Bruce Wellington, of Chattanooga, Anthony Arnold, of Chattanooga; beloved sisters, Kim, Crystal, and Jackie Arnold, of Chattanooga; beloved nephew/son, Joshua Brewer, of Chattanooga; beloved niece/daughter, Basilea Wellington, of Chattanooga; beloved cousin, Vernisa Crayton, of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
