The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team got the weekend started with a 293 Friday at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va. That puts the ladies just three strokes our of the top sitting between Western Kentucky (292) in seventh and Princeton (295) in ninth.
Violeta Fernandez-Tagle led the squad with 2-over 72. That was one better than Alexis Daniel’s 73 which was one ahead of the pair of Kera Healey and Giulia Foresta. Makenzie Cooper had the drop score one more shot back at 75.
College of Charleston and Sacramento State have the early lead with matching 282s.
Notre Dame is third at 286. There is a tie on the player leaderboard as well with Maddy Bante (Notre Dame) and Emma Schimpf (College of Charleston) knotted at 68.
The Mocs are paired with the Hilltoppers and Tigers in round two. Cooper starts it off followed by Foresta, Healey, Daniel and Fernandez-Tagle in 10-minute intervals. That trio leads the top half of the leaderboard off of No. 1.
