Ann Miller Woody, 82, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 10, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 8 1942, in Beloit, Kansas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ann made a friend wherever she went and was often described as sweet, kind, loving and generous.
She was the daughter of Josephine and Dr. Marvin B. Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Thomas Simpson, III; and her sister, Mary Keller.
Ann graduated Plant High School in Tampa, Fl., where she was the wild child of the three Miller sisters. She attended Queens College. Ann worked in the banking industry in Chattanooga, earning promotions up to assistant vice president. Later in life, she went back to Chattanooga State and earned her nursing degree. She worked at Erlanger Hospital, then retired from CIGNA Healthcare. During retirement, she worked with special needs children for Catoosa County School system.
Survivors include her beloved husband and soul mate, Hobert; her daughters, Mary (Hunter) Hughes, of Chattanooga, Jody (Craig) Blakley, of McDonough, Pam Underdue, of Chattanooga and Janet (Mark) Edwards, of Rock Spring; grandchildren, Gabby and Wyatt Hughes, Alexis and Nicholas LaScala, Caleb and Carrington Blakley and Justin Edwards; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Raegan; and sister, Martha (Bill) Boyd. She will be missed by all her loving family and wonderful friends.
Ann will have a Celebration of Life of Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at Woodstation Church in Ringgold. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service on Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at Erlanger East, especially Nurse Holly, for their loving and compassionate care.
