Joan Elrod Roddy
Joan Elrod Roddy, 89, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Born in Etowah, Tn., she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a volunteer for many years at the Ronald McDonald House, and a member of the Joyful Sounds and Let’s Sing From Memory singing groups. She was an avid gardener who loved reminiscing with her high school class throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferman Franklin and Myrtle Miller Elrod; son, Kenneth McClary; three brothers, Frank Elrod, Ralph Elrod and L.J. Elrod; and six sisters, Virginia Malsky, Mary Kincaid, Irma Gwaltney, Irene Amiel, Margaret Mann and Betty Shelfer Hollins.
Joan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Wayne Roddy; two daughters, Rebecca Lee Powell and Elizabeth Ann (Stacey) Davis; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, in the funeral home chapel with Minister David Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. There will be no graveside services.
